Back in September 2022, the clock at Myrt Tharpe Square fell over and hit a nearby bike rack, splitting the clock pole in half. The iconic clock has been a staple in Myrt Tharpe Square since 2003. Members of the Cocoa Rotary club approached the City of Cocoa to see about the club donating a new clock in honor of their approaching 100th Anniversary. Members of the Cocoa Community Redevelopment Agency heard a presentation from the Cocoa Rotary Club on Monday, December 5, 2022 and approved the acceptance of the donation. The clock will be the Rotary blue color and will have the Rotary symbol on the face of the clock and will take about 8 months to get delivered and replaced.
The Cocoa Rotary club is an organization of local business professionals who volunteer for their community. The Cocoa Rotary helps the community in many different ways. The Cocoa club is active in helping local charities such as the Boys and Girls Club, The Central Brevard Sharing Center, and several other charities. The gazebo at Myrt Tharpe Square was also constructed through a generous donation from the club.
Cocoa Rotary is accepting donations to help fund the full cost of the clock if anyone in the community would like to participate in this great project.
